Light it Up!

Toronto ON
Canada

Our team has been walking in Light The Night since 2015. We may have started with a different name, however we have always had the same group of amazing family and friends, all brought together by an unfortunate circumstance. Blood cancer brought us together, but together, we are fighting to make a difference for the entire community.

My sister and I lost our father in November of 2012 to Lymphoma and this is what brought us to the cause. We can’t remember exactly how we found Light The Night, but we are so glad we did! The walk is not about any one person, it is about bringing people together. There are so many different people affected in a variety of ways but when we walk together, we are walking as one, and for one reason.

Light The Night is full of symbolism, looking around and seeing the different colours of the lanterns is so powerful. The walk is also all about inclusivity, everyone who is a part of the walk is part of the same community. My friend and his wife walk with red lanterns, their mother holds a white lantern as a survivor! My other friend will sadly be holding a gold lantern this year with myself and my family. We all walk every year to improve the future for everyone around us.

Every year, the night is so powerful and inspiring! It is amazing to see the unity of everyone coming together. It is so easy to make a difference when participating in Light The Night. You can be a donor, a walker, a fundraiser, or all three! The impact is so great.
