Christian's Love for Life!
In 2014, Christian was diagnosed with AML, at one point during his cancer journey, Christian spent the better part of 7 months in SickKids hospital. His mom Marzia says that the biggest fear while going through the entire cancer experience is the unknown but that it is very important not to think ahead or get swept up in negativity that has not yet presented itself. “That just makes you anxious and then you are unable to function for the person you are supporting. Have faith and live in the moment”.
Their first year walking in Light The Night was 2018, a decision they made last minute. They walked with Molly’s Miracle as they had met Molly and her incredible family at SickKids when both Christian and Molly were in treatment. They were instantly hooked and spoke of the powerful moment they walked past SickKids together, on the other side of beating blood cancer!
In 2019, Marzia created Christian’s Love For Life and walked with friends and family under the banner of their hero, Christian. Being part of Light The Night makes them feel inspired and very satisfied. Marzia finds it empowering to watch her son walk proudly in his survivor t-shirt as he is her hero.
They will continue to walk because they know it makes a different in the lives of everyone else they see walking with them. They take comfort and bring comfort from and to all of the others at the walk as they know what it was like to go through a blood cancer diagnosis. Now, 16-years-old, it was special for Christian to bring some of his own friends to walk with him, especially past SickKids. Marzia says that is the ultimate for them, she gets lost in that moment when she is looking up because at one point in her life, she was looking down.
